Gene Pools
Separate the Gene Research cards into two Pools by the years shown on the back, either 1 or 2. Shuffle each Pool separately and place them face down off to one side. Draw a card from the Gene Pool of your choice. This card will be kept secret in your hand, and revealed only when completed.Base Pairs
Deal each player two Base Pair cards, one A/T and one G/C, to be privately held in your hand. Place one A/T card and one G/C card face up next to the Gene Pool decks. Shuffle the six remaining Base Pair cards and place them face up in a row to create the initial DNA Sequence between the two players (see above).
